Zappone Subaru Norwich Gives Back with Free Tree Giveaway in Partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation

On Saturday, April 12th, 2025, Zappone Subaru Norwich proudly participated in the Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to host a free tree giveaway for our local community in Norwich, NY.

As part of Subaru’s nationwide commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, this event gave residents the chance to bring home a living contribution to our planet’s health. From Red Maple to Bald Cypress, Black Gum Tree and Silver Fir, each species was carefully selected to thrive in our local environment and support long-term ecological health.

We’re excited to share that over 100 trees were distributed right here in the Norwich area—each one a powerful step toward building cleaner, greener neighborhoods.

Why Planting a Tree Matters

Planting a tree may seem like a small act, but the impact it creates is anything but small. With every tree that took root:

400 people will be provided with enough oxygen for a full day
156 people will benefit from one day’s worth of clean water
12,820 gallons of stormwater runoff will be avoided over time

That’s not just good for the Earth—it’s a direct investment in the health and well-being of our neighbors, families, and future generations.

A Community-Wide Impact

Norwich currently has a 26% tree canopy, and initiatives like this help expand that coverage—cooling streets by up to 10°F during hot summers, improving mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, and even supporting critical water sources that supply over 180 million Americans.

These 100 trees, distributed across 2,293 square miles, will provide lasting benefits for decades to come. They’ll support native wildlife, attract pollinators, and beautify our community—one yard, park, and sidewalk at a time.
